“Following an extensive tally of votes for the 2023 Sailing Holiday photo, we are excited to announce the conferment of not one but two prizes for our outstanding entries!”
The inaugural PlainSailing.com ‘Sailing Holiday Photo of the Year’ competition embarked on an unconventional journey. With an incredibly narrow margin differentiating two photos after a fortnight of public voting, the judges determined that the most equitable resolution would be to share the top prize between the two winning entries. In the aftermath of thousands of online votes spanning the globe, the difference between the two leading photographs was only less than 10 votes!
Instead of a singular top prize of €1,250 towards a 2024 yacht or catamaran charter, a top-tier award of €750 was granted to a breathtaking shot of a yacht navigating the open sea against the backdrop of a breathtaking orange sunset. This captivating photograph was captured by a member of the West Lancashire Scout Group (in the UK) during their five-boat expedition from Trogir, Croatia, in October.
The second-place award of €500 was bestowed upon another striking drone shot captured in Croatia. This mesmerizing overhead view featured a raft of ten yachts, magnificently positioned against the vibrant blue seas and lush greenery of the nearby land. The photograph was skillfully taken by professional Skipper David Vojak, who sailed with clients from Biograd, Croatia, in collaboration with PlainSailing.com.
