Thanks to the National Institute of Statistics (INE) there is a tool through which you can consult any date (day, month, year or decade) in the last century, where the number of living Spanish residents who were born in that moment.

That 2020 and 2021 have been two devastating years in terms of deaths is evident by the number of people who have lost their lives due to covid-19. However, the INE continues to expand its databases to offer a novelty that is more than curious both on its website and in mobile applications.

Through its latest platform, everyone can enter the day they were born and see how many homonymous people they have registered in Spain. Of course, even without referring to 2020 and 2021 , the database dates back to 1921 to reflect anyone with 100 years or less at this time.

A method that can be very useful in certain academic doubts and that leaves, among other curiosities, that January 1 is the date with the most people alive (123,233) and December 25 the one with the least (95,584), that September is the most popular month (an average of 1,131 current residents were born in that month) and November the least (1,068) and that in 1976 was the year with the most people living in Spain (647,817).

Furthermore, in terms of decades and the month with the most births of each, in the 1920s December triumphs; in the 30, February; in the 40, March; in the 50’s, February again; in the 60s, September; in the 70s and 80s, May; and in the 90s, 2000s and the last decade, again September.

Finally, thanks to a population curve, it is possible to see how the number of people is constantly growing from 1921 to the aforementioned 1976 (with small ups and downs), as is logical. But it is from then on, when it is appreciated how the birth rate is reduced until 1998 (359,523), at which time during the next ten years there is considerable growth (there are 100,000 more people in 2008). However, the last decade has once again suffered a setback to the 339,102 registered people who were born in 2019.
