Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo Preview:

This is the first occasion in boxing history that two champions of their weight class have faced off against one another.

After having hand surgery, Alvarez fought again in May of this year and won by knockout over John Ryder to keep his undisputed super middleweight belt.

He wants a rematch with Dmitry Bivol for the WBA Super Light Heavyweight Championship after losing to Bivol in May of 2022. Unfortunately, Bivol was not amenable to a business arrangement.

Then, on September 16, 2023, Canelo challenged WBC Middleweight Champion Jermall Charlo to a fight. Jermall, though, was hurt and unable to fight.

Canelo and Jermell Charlo, his brother and the current undisputed super welterweight champion, will finally square off on September 30.

Canelo, who made his pro debut in 2005, has a 59-0 record that includes 39 knockout victories (66%). Jermall Charlo, on the other hand, made his debut in 2007 and has since gone on to win 35 fights, 19 of which he won through knockout (54%).

Two of Alvarez’s last five victories came via knockout, and the other two came by unanimous decision. He has won bouts against heavyweights Gennady Golovkin and Caleb Plant but lost to light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol. Four of his last five victories were by knockout, and he has won all of them.

Canelo, on the other hand, went eight years without losing before finally facing Dmitry Bivol in May of last year. The Mexican boxer is well-known for his impressive range of abilities, including his speed, power, and boxing IQ.
