Two former world champions, Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker, will take on each other this weekend in Saudi Arabia in a stacked card featuring Anthony Joshua vs Otto Walin, Dmitry Bivol vs Lyndon Arthur and Daniel Dubois vs Jarrell Miller.
While Wilder is entering the ring for the first time since October 2022, when he won against Robert Helenius, Parker has fought three times this year and won all three.
The winner of this bout will likely take on the winner of Joshua vs Wallin, which means Wilder’s highly-anticipating meeting with Joshua may finally happen next year.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ was tipped to face heavyweight rival AJ but takes on former WBO champion Parker instead. The 38-year-old fighter has a long history with Fury. Parker is the former WBO heavyweight champion. He won the belt by defeating Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2016. He successfully defended the belt twice before losing it to Joshua in Cardiff in 2018, where he became the first to take AJ the distance.
In September last year, New Zealander lost to Brit Joe Joyce. He has made a remarkable comeback since then and will enter the ring this weekend after winning all three fights this year.
Looking at his run this year, Parker defeated the usual cruiserweight Jack Massey before heading to Australia and Saudi Arabia, where he won against Faiga Opelu and Simon Kean, picking up the vacant IBF and WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight.
Wilder vs Parker: What has been said?
Wilder is taking on Parker fans calling for a bout between him and Joshua. With both heavyweights publicly expressing their desire to fight in recent weeks, the hope has renewed that they will clash.
They will enter the ring on the same night this weekend, and ‘Bronze Bomber’ spoke directly to AJ at the announcement press conference.
“It’s good to be in the same room with him to see him face-to-face.
“It’s been a long time coming, I wish you nothing but the best bro.
“And hopefully soon we can get it on in the ring to give the people what they want, once and for all.
“But I wish you nothing but the best – even if it doesn’t happen.
“But I believe it’s going to happen, I believe that it will, it’s about that time, but even if it don’t, I wish you nothing but the best, nothing less.”
